Glossary

A subscription/configuration URL you import into a VPN client app.

Client app

An app you use to connect to VPN. Use the first-party GigaTap client when offered; fallback examples include Happ, Hiddify, Streisand, and NekoBox.

Subscription source

The link, QR code, or file you add to the GigaTap app so it can import servers and profiles.

Profile

A saved connection setup in your VPN client.

Protocol

The connection method used by your profile (for example VLESS REALITY or Hysteria2).

Server / Node

The VPN endpoint your client connects to.

Fallback profile

An alternative profile you switch to when your main route is unstable.

DNS leak

When DNS requests go outside the VPN tunnel and may expose visited domains.

Kill switch

A client feature that blocks internet traffic if VPN disconnects.

Smart Connection

An app mode that helps select and keep a working server without manual retry management.

Protection mode

Connection profiles that may help the app connect on restrictive or unstable networks.

TUN / full-device VPN

A routing mode that sends device traffic through the VPN tunnel.

System proxy

A routing mode that uses the operating system proxy setting where supported.

Local proxy

A routing mode that exposes a local HTTP or SOCKS proxy for apps that can be configured manually.

LAN sharing

A routing mode for sharing the connection to other devices on your local network.

Split routing

A routing mode where selected traffic uses the VPN and other traffic stays on the normal network.

Diagnostic report

A redacted diagnostics result that explains connection symptoms and can be shared with support.

MTProto

A Telegram proxy protocol. It is not a full-device VPN tunnel.

Tools Hub

A section in GigaTap app surfaces with companion privacy, diagnostics, and utility tools. Availability can vary by account and app surface.
