Routing & Leak Protection
Use this page when you need to choose how traffic is routed through GigaTap or when you want traffic to stop if the VPN drops.
Choose a routing mode
- TUN / full-device VPN: use this default mode when most apps on the device should use GigaTap.
- System proxy: use this when the operating system proxy setting is the right integration point.
- Local proxy: use this for apps that accept manual HTTP or SOCKS proxy settings.
- LAN sharing: use this only on networks and devices you control.
- Rule-based / geo split routing: use this when selected traffic should use GigaTap and other traffic should stay on the normal network.
Use kill switch deliberately
Enable Kill Switch when you want traffic to stop instead of leaving outside the tunnel after a VPN drop. If websites stop loading after a failed connection, check VPN status before changing profiles.
Quick recovery path
- Return to TUN / full-device VPN if a custom routing mode behaves unexpectedly.
- Disable split routing when full-device routing is required.
- Run Diagnostics if DNS or reachability is unclear.
- Share only a redacted diagnostic result with support.
